Travel Beauty Blast #11 with Ashley Scott

4 weeks, 4 countries, 10 cities, 5 pairs of speedos, an Athenian techno rave - 1 beauty bag…
Packing is hard enough if you’re anything like me, and a day requires 2/3 looks minimum. Alas, travelling with Joan Collins amounts of suitcases for a month through European locations is not on the cards at this stage in our lives. Such is the same dilemma with packing the all-important beauty bag.
What makes the cut when you’re hopping between countries and locations, cities to lakes, to beaches to very late nights in Napoli piazza’s with jumbo size spritz? This trip in particular involved lots more cityscapes and early morning hours when the head finally hit the pillow than seaside siestas, so skin recovery and rejuvenation were top billing in particular.
Multitasking, of course, would be the first thought; who’s going to deliver more bang for their buck to warrant the space they’re taking up? These goodies helped pull double duty with formulations with good powerhouse workers like Vitamin C / Niacinamide / Hyaluronic and more in multiple variations, making sure all our friends were doing more than one thing at a time. Who got given the plane ticket this time? Below are the winners who kept my skin still looking like it was still a part of a human face for a month.
Ultra Violette Fave Fluid SPF 50+
SPF, of course, is a must. No doubt that European UV levels are lower than the southern hemisphere, but we never skimp no matter the day or the weather. So, on a trip where we maximise usage, one of the newer products from one of our always favourite SPF brands, Ultra Violette’s range, came to the front of the line. The Fave Fluid uses UV filters alongside skin-boosting ingredients Niacinamide, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E to work together to double-team pigmentation all in an ultra-light-weight finish. Need we even look for more?
Bonus Points: Ella Baché Superfluid SPF 50+ - The number one choice for SPF with a glow-backed tinted finish.
Ella Baché Neobright Correcting Serum
When we talk multitasking, this truly could be fined for overachieving. A multi-correcting serum, it boasts Kakadu plum extract, high in vitamin C, Hyaluronic acid plumps the skin, and niacinamide to boost, so you’re getting a powerful 3-for-1 hit. And when space is an issue, you need to look no further than this as an answer.
Emma Lewisham Skin Reset Eye Creme
Tired eyes are but a given joy of travel, so an eye cream was non-negatable. I, as such, turn to my kiwi angel Emma Lewisham, like I do at most times, for the answer. That answer is the eternally delivering Skin Reset Eye Crème. It feels wonderful, hydrates, and, best of all, lets you later other products on top with no pilling or resistance.
Buly 1803 Plum Seed Oil
Packing more of a punch than it should, compared to more expensive cousins like Prickly Pear, Plum Seed Oil is a great, still relatively low-key secret ingredient that my skin has been loving. This is a great oil for the last stage of your skincare to lock things in at night, and great for a night glossy finish under some bar lighting or club neon’s.
Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel & Daily Superfoliant
A packed schedule, lots of SPF, dust, sand, and metro stops require a way to scour the day off. So cleansing needs a double shot at getting things refreshed. This is my eternal favourite cleansing duo (sometimes a threesome with Dermalogica’s Precleanse Oil when I have it). The gel foams perfectly and doubles as a body wash in a pinch; then the Superfoiliant is gentle enough for every day (I love the age-smart one for an extra kick. However, you can go for one of their milder daily foliates too).
Bread Macadamia Oil
Hair can be a task and a half to maintain during travel. While I’m lucky enough to have short enough of a ‘do this time around not to worry much (trust me, I had to worry about it on the last long trip), something that can smooth out dehydrated hair is a gem so the Bread hair oils are a blessing, especially when they can also be used for skin on dry patches!
Kosas Air Brow
Good brows are a must when you’re on a plane/train/bus/metro/boat in heat and wind. They’ll frame your face at all times, and with the Kosas Air Brow, stay in place during all of that. So if all of your other applications slip and slide, at least the brows are there all day for you to rely on.
Bonus Points: espressoh Hey Brow Clear Fixing Gel - I loved this Italian brand’s clear gloss brow gel for added hold and lift, which you can now get it at home via Sephora.
Charlotte Tilbury Super Radiance Resurfacing Facial
Less so for your trip, but for when you land at home, a good resurfacing of all that travel fatigue may be in order. For that, I turn to my personal winner in that world, this punchy AHA / BHA peel to get some extra cell turnover and get rid of dead skin cells.
