The skincare products I legitimately use: Matthew Gode

In this Sauce series, we uncover the products our favourite faces legitimately use to keep their skin healthy, glowing and just outright stunning. Because there’s nothing that makes you feel more special than when someone you admire trusts you with a secret or two.

This week I’ve sussed the disruptive Matthew Gode’s glowing skincare routine and my word, it’s good. A trendsetter by nature, Matthew is a multi-disciplinary artist residing in Sydney. He’s also a new friend of mine and someone I immediately recognised had such fucking epic skin - I just had to know more.

More recently, Matthew performed his eponymous show, titled GODE, to a sold-out crowd in Sydney. His craft, which is centred around movement, has earned him a reputation for creating choreography and direction that’s unparalleled - as if he crafted his own distinct category of movement altogether that he’s just getting ready to share with the world on his own terms.

The Cleanser: Chanel Le Blanc Foam Cleanser. It’s extremely brightening which I love, especially in the morning when I want to look alive and fresh.

The Serum: In the morning, Emma Lewisham Illuminating Brighten Your Day Crème. Once again, just very brightening and adds to that morning glow which I love. In the evening, Aspect (Dr) Exfol A Plus. Jess from UNOIT Beauty (Darlinghurst) got me onto the Aspect product range and they changed my skin in the best way.

The Moisturiser: Aspect (Dr) Optiboost Complex. A really lightweight hydrator which I prefer. It’s also packed with a bunch of good stuff that boots collagen and cellular turnover.

The SPF: Aspect Sun Envirostat SPF50. Really gentle on the skin and dosen’t feel too chemical.

The Bodycare: Aesop Rose By Any Other Name Body Cleanser, Aesop Geranium Leaf Body Scrub, Costa Brazil Lua Moonlight Body Oil. I’ve been using the Aesop body range for about a decade now. Nice on the skin and smells amazing. The body oil gives you this really beautiful glow and is packed with a bunch of vitamins as well

The Haircare: Aesop Shampoo, Aesop Conditioner. I could be better with my hair care but these are my go-tos.

The Treatment: Laser Genesis at UNOIT Beauty. Once again, Jess at UNOIT Beauty really looks after me when it comes to my skin. I love booking an evening appointment after a day of work- the ultimate treat. The Laser Genesis feels like sitting in the sun for a little while and leaves you glowing afterwards.

The Shaving Cream: Aesop Moroccan Neroli Shaving Serum. I mostly use clippers, but when I do a clean shave I’ll used the Aesop Serum. It’s just sensitive on the skin and leaves no irritation.

The Supplement: The Beauty Chef Cleanse Powder, The Beauty Chef Clarify Powder. I love the Beauty Chef range. I feel really fresh and nourished after the drinks, and they taste great.

The Pleasure: I actually just worked on a project for a new Lubricant that’s about to hit the market, don’t know how much I can say about it but I’m excited to try! I’ve also been doing some more spiritual work on myself and saw the amazing Mel at Natural Progression Wellness (Bondi). She gave me some amazing oils and sprays to use that she created with her business partner to raise vibration. The range is called Resonate Essences. I’m now using the “Love” essence, the “Soul Healing” oil, and both the “Soul State” and “Angelic Support” sprays.
