The skincare products I legitimately use: Chloe Hill
In this Sauce series, we uncover the products our favourite faces legitimately use to keep their skin healthy, glowing and just outright stunning. Because there’s nothing that makes you feel more special than when someone you admire trusts you with a secret or two.
Kia ora koutou, I'm Chloe, and I'm a fashion stylist based in Pōneke Aotearoa. I spent over a decade in Sydney and around the world, and post-covid have happily settled into life back here at home. I'm a very low-effort beauty girl, SPF is my priority and everything else is kept to a minimum. I'm a totally do-it-at-home kind of person; the only thing I outsource is getting my hair cut (shout out to Paloma Salon in Sydney and Willis York in Pōneke), but nails, brows and anything else I HAVE TO do are done at speed in my own bathroom, even the occasional fringe trim.
So much respect for everyone that puts in the effort in committing the dollars to treatments and so on. I did once upon a time get some laser treatments at Laser Clinics in Australia for underarms and bikini and it was great, so maybe more of those to come but other than that you can expect to see a very natural ageing process from me. Already embracing the grey hairs and smile lines and loving it!
The Cleanser: Emma Lewisham's oil cleanser massaged into my skin before I jump in the shower gets me so relaxed, and at the end of the day I foam up Aesop's Parsley seed cleanser to wash off all the sunscreen and dirt from the day.
The Serum: Aesop's Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Intense Serum and Exalted Eye Serum are absolute go-to's. Slather me in the stuff!
The Moisturiser: Emma Lewisham's Skin Reset, feels light but very hydrating.
The SPF: Invisible Zinc all over every inch of skin! It's not so good for my clothes, but I need all the sun protection I can get under this harsh Aotearoa sun. There's also a locally made one in a refillable tin by Seasick Sunscreen Co - which is awesome for avoiding plastic.
The Bodycare: I buy a large bottle of single carrier oil like Almond and mix it with a few drops of lavender oil for my own DIY body oil. I also make a batch of Ethique's Gentle Body Lotion Concentrate every few months and add a few drops of lavender oil to that as well. I try to avoid plastic as much as possible, and making these myself saves so much packaging.
The Haircare: Again trying to opt out of plastic as much as possible, Sphaera's Nourish + Restore Conditioner Bar is amazing, and I recently bought Davine's MOMO solid shampoo bar from Coleen, which is so good for curls. For leave-in cream, I still haven't found anything quite right so I still make a guilty purchase of Bumble & Bumble's curl-defining cream from Mecca and try to use it sparingly so it lasts as long as possible.
The Treatment: Emma Lewisham's overnight mask is heaven-sent. I loathe sheet masks (cold, clingy and wasteful), so this beautiful thick formula that doesn't leave skin feeling sticky is divine. I also recently started using Youth to the People's Retinal + Niacinamide Youth Serum once a week, it has already helped my skin heaps, and I swear it has cleared up some congestion on my chin. I'm going to amp up to applying at night 2-3 times a week so stay tuned.
The Soap Bar: I use soap bars on my body and for shaving. Fair & Square soapy and Sphaera do the best and are Aotearoa-made
The Supplement: I'm way too blasé about beauty, really I do pretty basic skincare and that's it. Please someone fill me in, should I be taking supplements?! I try to eat a wholesome vegetarian diet so I hope I get most of the nutrients my body and skin need from whole foods.
The Pleasure: Anything from Par Femme, curated by some of my sweet Aussie mates I go here for everything sex-related. I've actually got a few Aloe plants which I've heard are the best natural lubricant but I don't love the idea of ripping them apart HA, so going to buy the Dame Alu Lubricant next.
