Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Daily Peel
Navigating in the ‘world of stuff’ can be both exhausting and very expensive, here at Sauce, we decided to independently select and test products for honest reviews.
You can leave a comment or your review on the product below so we can have a good ol’ chat about it.
Mt skin type
Well, I’m pretty sure that when it comes to the skin type, I’ve been blessed to have a normal one, however, that doesn’t mean for all dermatological mishaps to shy away from me: I do experience occasional breakouts (and, when it rains, it pours), lack of firmness, dull skin, greyish skin tone (probably one of the most annoying side effects of having extra white skin) and don’t even let me start on wrinkles — rhytiphobia is a real thing. So when it comes to skincare, I kind of like products that tackle at least more than one of my concerns.
What exactly is this product?
This is a two-step peeling treatment with various options for sensitive, normal and a skin that needs a bit more of a boost. There are Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Ultra Gentle Daily Peel, Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel and Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Extra Strength Daily Peel (which I personally find the most suitable for myself). It also comes in two forms: as pre-soaked pads packed in individual packets or in a jar. I, personally prefer the latter as it’s great for when you’re going away too and also keeps the pads non-oxidised. Worse for the environment though, so it’s our choice to make (which is rare and great of the brand to offer).
What are the key ingredients?
7 AHA and BHA acids (they speed up the natural exfoliating process and remove dead cells), resveratrol (a powerful antioxidant) and retinol, the God of anti-ageing ingredients.
What is it made without?
Free of sulfates SLS and SLES, parabens, formaldehydes, formaldehyde-releasing agents, phthalates, mineral oil, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, triclosan, and triclocarban, and contains less than one per cent of synthetic fragrances. This product is also vegan, cruelty-free, and gluten-free, and comes in recyclable packaging.
What does it claim to do?
Resurrect radiance, reduce wrinkles, and refine pores.
I have used it for…
Consistently for nearly two months, however, I’ve been introduced this product about five years ago when I had no wrinkles to fight and my pores were a size of… what’s the tiniest thing you can barely see? Anyway, I was gifted a pack of 30 extra strength peel pads recently and so I decided to use it regularly after a show every night to see if it will make a difference. I do quite a lot peels and know that my skin can handle extra strength peel pads but for you, I would definitely recommend to start with an original peel and build your way up to the stronger one.
About the brand
Just so you know, Dr. Dennis Gross is a real dermatologist in New York City, a very popular and innovative one. As a person who’s passionate about skin and everything that it comes with, he was determined to create a product that would deliver similar to clinical results at home and this is how this product came about.
Value for money
$29 for 5 packettes, $150.00 for 30 packettes, $258.00 for 60 packettes. It’s not cheap, I have to admit, but it’s worth every dollar. My skin looks and feels amazing for the price of a daily coffee, which is, to be fair, so much worse for my wellbeing. Just purchased my third box a few days ago — good tip: it comes in a very handy combo Dr. Dennis Gross Clinic-At-Home Kit that’s even better value for your money.
The final verdict
I’m so hooked, I don’t want to stop and so given that it’s more of a necessity for my skin, I have already added $150 to my monthly budget spreadsheet.
I rate it — A
(A) It changed my life — will buy it again and again.
(B) It’s not groundbreaking since it does the job I’m happy to continue using until I find a better alternative.
(C) It’s not bad but I’ll only consider using if someone gives it to me free of charge
(D) Thanks but no thanks, this product is just not for me.
