Fashion month is back in Aotearoa New Zealand, thanks to Te Wiki Āhua O Aotearoa

Te Wiki Āhua o Aotearoa
9th September - 13 September 2024

This year’s been an absolute whirlwind. Brands shutting down, tiny budgets for shoots, and the global post-Covid slump hitting our creative scenes hard. The news about NZFW being postponed was a real downer, especially for young creatives who were counting on it for their first taste of the fashion world—whether as volunteers, backstage hands, design assistants, or behind-the-scenes pros. But here’s the silver lining: this pause gave us the chance to rethink what’s been missing from past fashion weeks and how we can level up as a collective. Enter Te Wiki Āhua o Aotearoa (aka New Zealand Fashion Week)—a massive collab of young Kiwi creatives. We’re talking designers, photographers, makeup artists, stage managers, digital creators, filmmakers, and more. And the best part? It’s all for a cause, with ticket proceeds going to support Palestine.

From September 9-13, the buzzing Karangahape Road in Auckland will be the stage for this epic week-long celebration, shining a spotlight on the freshest fashion talent, with new models and artists donating their time.

At Sauce, we’re hoping this event brings back the raw creativity that Stephen Marr nailed in the early 2000s with 'The Marr Factory,' but with a twist—think runway shopping and pop-up vibes.

Tickets for three of the runway shows are on sale now. Get yours here. Check out the Āhua on Instagram for regular updates.
