Sauce Shoots: Penny Stemson by Anastasiya Konstantine

The Cement Works was a popular spot I visited with friends after school and during the summertime, man-made ruins with nature taking back their rightful place. It was a popular watering hole where kids would jump off rocks or etch their initials with their high school sweethearts into the clay.

Over the years, it has become a desolate place. Locations inspire me to tell a story, and the Cement works are no different. They perfectly balance what once was and how quickly things change. From a working factory to ruins with overgrown trees, contrasted with the influence of the delinquent and their bright graffiti, all fighting to be the main focus, so much so that they blend in.

It was the best backdrop, encapsulating the parallels of the forever-evolving local fashion community, which is trying to keep up with constant changes within the industry as fashion houses close down. In the rubble, a new generation of ideas has the opportunity to bloom.
